Blazeguard Protects New York City Apartments
Blazeguard roof deck sheathing is being used in the Markham Gardens affordable housing development, a Staten Island (New York) project c0-developed by the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) and the New York City Housing Development Corporation (HDC).
The overall project, announced in 2006, is a $60 million redevelopment of the Markham Gardens public housing development locatsed in the West Brighton neighborhood on Staten Island's north shore. Blazeguard fire-rated sheathing will be placed in the roof decks of some 250 apartments in 24 buildings, providing fire protection along shared firewalls. The project is currently under construction, and will be completed by the end of the summer or early fall.
