New Construction in April driven up by Multifamily Market

Multi-Housing News released a report summarizing April housing statistics. The Commerce Department released data last Friday that shows new home construction was up 8.2% in the month of April, which is attributable to a 36% increase in multi-family unit construction. Since Blazeguard is often used in multi-family construction, Barrier welcomes this news. Hopefully, we have passed the "bottom" of the housing decline.

The seasonally adjusted annual Single Family Home starts were down to a 17-year low of 692,000. Year-to-year, overall housing starts are lower than in April 2007 by 30.6%. On the brighter side, builders are helping to remove supply from the market.

Barrier continues to meet customer needs in both Multi-Family Residential and Commercial Modular Markets for fire-resistant materials and remains focused on penetrating the Structural Insulated Panel (SIPs market) as well.Fire-rated sheathing, town homes, multi-family construction, housing market, small cap, otcbb, ibtgf, barrier, blazeguard, mycoguard, fire-rated paint, intumescent paint, mold, mildew, fire-retardant plywood, frt, sips, structurally insulated panels, fire-rated wall assemblies, commercial modular, modular home construction, green building products, LEED, control room, electrical panel backer board, SIPs
