LP® FlameBlock™ used for External Walls in Hotels, Motels, Resorts
The primary use of FlameBlock™ exhibited at this show was as exterior sheathing for two-hour external walls in Type IIIA construction, a common construction type for multi-story wood frame hotel, motel and resort properties.
In particular, two-side-coated FlameBlock™ is used in UL wall assembly, U349, designed specifically for this type of construction. Using FlameBlock™ in this manner obviates the need for a double-layer of gypsum wall board on the outside face of the wall, saving builders considerable time and money in the construction process. A 400,000 square foot structure featuring this type of construction is currently being built on the U.S. East Coast -- keep an eye on our blog for further information.
Architects, designers or builders of hospitality properties (or other lighter commercial wood-frame structures) are also encouraged to visit both Barrier and LP® Building Products websites for information on how to save time and money using FlameBlock™.
