Home Building Less of a Drag??

The Commerce Department issued a report today announcing U.S. Growth Rebounding during the second quarter.

More government spending, a surge in business investment and a better trade performance led to U.S. economic growth to a level similar to the growth experienced at the beginning of last year. The GDP gained at a 3.4 percent annual rate.

The Treasury Secretary, Henry Paulson reported today that problems with bad loans in the subprime mortgage area were largely contained and the global market losses are really a repricing of risks. He went further to say we have a strong economy and a strong global economy.

Home building was less of a drag in the second quarter...it shrank at a 9.3% annual rate v.s. the 16.3% during the first quarter. Has the tide turned? From a rise in inquiry activity, Barrier is more bullish about the market than in past months.Fire-rated sheathing, town homes, multi-family construction, housing market, small cap, otcbb, ibtgf, barrier, blazeguard, mycoguard, fire-rated paint, intumescent paint, mold, mildew, fire-retardant plywood, frt, sips, structurally insulative panels, fire-rated wall assemblies, commercial modular, modular home construction, green building products, LEED,

U.S. Wildfires Alert at Highest Level - 5

The nation's wildfire preparedness was raised to it's highest level today. Dozens of new fires started out West where it remains incredibly dry. Randy Eardley with the National Interagency Fire Center reports that resources are being stretched thin due to the number of large fires, occurrences in several states and in several geographic areas.

There are currently 15,000 firefighters battling up towards 70 fires larger than 100 acres in 12 states.

Whether or not global warming exists, fire damages in the U.S. are growing dramatically every year. Increased population densities in some of these fire prone areas exacerbate the risks of property and casualty losses.

It would be prudent for anyone building in these fabulous but high fire-risk areas, to utilize proven fire resistant technology, such as Blazeguard Fire-Rated Panels or Blazeguard Fire-Resistant Paint.

So, if you're thinking about that condo in Aspen, give us a call.
